Terrace renovation

Terrace renovation

Location:

Esparreguera

Area:

30 m2

Objectives:

We found an elevated terrace above the garden, connected to the dining room and kitchen, with limited dimensions and a layout that did not make the most of the available space. The staircase took up too much room both on the terrace and in the garden. The boundary fences with the neighbours were in poor condition. The garden floor was damaged, there were dampness issues in the basement, and the outdoor lighting was insufficient.

Idea:

To give the available space a more modern and elegant feel.
To create warm, indirect lighting with stronger light points where needed.
To make the layout more practical and add three key plant elements in designer pots to create a finished and welcoming atmosphere in this compact space.

Execution:

The existing terrace was demolished and the built staircase that intruded into it was removed.
A larger terrace was built and the staircase was relocated. The terrace was paved with wood-look porcelain tiles.
The garden paving was removed, the whole surface was waterproofed, and the area was divided between synthetic decking and artificial grass. A small white marble stone bed was created beneath the terrace.
The neighbour enclosures and a canopy for the barbecue were made with the same decking material.
Indirect perimeter lighting was added, together with a light point on the terrace and in the barbecue area.
