This project is located in Barcelona and consists of an outdoor garden accessed by a staircase from inside the house.
The exterior included a small paved outdoor dining area, natural grass in poor condition due to the lack of sunlight caused by the plot’s position, and a swimming pool accessed by two steps at its edge. The clients wanted to enlarge the paved outdoor area, which did not match the current modern feel of the house, and replace the original lawn with high-quality, low-maintenance artificial grass.
The main issue was the lack of garden drainage and the limited drainage capacity of the terrace, because it was located above the internal garage area of the house.
Before
A steel structure was proposed over the existing garden in the area next to the façade in order not to alter the current drainage capacity of the ground. On top of it, a warm synthetic decking surface was installed.
Next to this paved area, high-quality artificial grass was proposed to achieve the effect the clients were looking for. Finally, in the pool area, the natural wooden slats of the access steps, which were also in poor condition, were replaced with the same wood-effect synthetic decking used in the paved zone.
A steel support structure was built over the existing garden near the façade so that the drainage behaviour of the original ground could be maintained. A warm synthetic deck finish was installed above it.
Next to this area, a new premium artificial lawn was laid, producing exactly the effect the clients wanted. In the pool area, the deteriorated natural wood slats on the access steps were replaced with the same wood-look synthetic decking used in the rest of the new paved zone.
